  1. I got that thing a long time ago... actually, pretty cheap. My summer project involves Asterisk PBX and a couple cards, a Sun workstation and wha-la, a turret that can go over VOIP.

almost close, need to find a few more parts (hard to find stuff for those particular turrets) but once i have them, it will be ready to go via VOIP.

  2. Yeah, I just switched to Aspen a couple weeks ago. finally getting the hang of it, and absolutely love it. I signed up for the DTN data feed... no complaints thus far, although the options analytics pages do run a bit slow on my machine. I may be due for an upgrade.

  3. Bro, you will love it more with time. The analytics are sick for the $$. Once I go on my own I am dropping the bloomberg sub and going back with Aspen. I would consider running a dual cpu if quoting a lot of symbols.

  5. By BS I suppose you mean Bear Stearns.

Most of those guys probably make money, or they're gone.

How do the firms make money so readily, but it's hard for the individual?

  6. Combine the best of both worlds, cause now you can get Bloomie on Aspen :D

I'm planning on upgrading to this shortly:
    http://www.digitaltigers.com/zenview-commandcenter17a.shtml

I'll have 4 dedicated to Aspen, and the far two on the left for order entry, etc. I'll probably buy a small form factor computer for order entry and regular mess, and save the heavy duty one for the 4 panels and the Aspen Graphics.

I spoke with Ken in the NYC office at Aspen, very nice guy. I spent about 7 hours last night just digging into the nitty gritty of the quote sheets and charting for bond spreads.

definitely agree on the dual CPU... I tried to get Bear here to let me use my Aspen login just for shi*s n giggles, but I have to go through so much red tape and bureaucracy I just gave up. My days here are numbered anyways :D

  8. These aren't prop guys.. They purely execute agency order flow. It's all about your "book"...

the market makers here (on the opposite side of the floor) are relegated to making markets in penny stocks. That used to be a huge team, now i think about 20 out of the original 100 remain.

"information is king"... remember that :)
