Spare me, I'm guessing at the number of embassies in your list where the Ambassador was left defenseless is .... zero. Any embassy can come under attack at any time, the question to answer, was the embassy defended adequately given known threats. I don't remember any of those attacks being blamed on spontaneous outbursts resulting from a video.. they were called for what they were, terrorists attacks. You criticize Bush for not preventing the 9/11 plane attacks since in your words he had the intelligence, well take your medicine, The State Dept had ample warning and left the embassy and Ambassador Stevens defenseless leaving him to be captured and tortured to death. The only answer that can be concluded from Ambassador Stevens tragic death is the State Department failed miserably. And instead of condemning the attack from the onset and calling it what it was, we were somehow held partially to blame as the event was branded as a result to some stupid video that had absolutely nothing to do with the event. Instead of the President coming out, denouncing the action, making known those involved will be brought to justice....... we were and are being shamed. And you wonder why people ask questions, it stinks.

Also, for the ten thousandth time (this is for the conspiracy loons) Benghazi was a consulate, not an embassy. Consulates don't get the security embassies get. In NYC there are consulates of foreign gov'ts all over the place. Very few have much in the way of security. They're there to service nationals who need updates on their passports, issue visas to folks who want to visit the country that's represented, that sort of thing. Kind of like a bank branch rather than a bank hq.

There are the facts, and then there are leftist talking points. Facts: The embassy suffered from a terrible lack of a properly sized security force. The administration was made aware of this numerous times previous to the attack. There were several attacks in the area prior to this one. The attack was not a protest gone bad over the video. The administration had real time intel while the attack was occuring. A decision was made to let those on site fight it out on their own. Four Americans died as a result. The admistration knew the attack was a well coordinated terrorist action. A week later they sent Rice out to tell a story which would lead people to believe the attack was directly related to the video while knowing that it wasn't. Those are the facts. Everything else is leftist spin attempting to cloud the facts.
It's not good that they were murdered, but you do know they were in a dangerous part of the world and Americans have been killed there for decades. It's part of what happens in dangerous places. We can't stop people from murdering here in our own country. Why do you think the president has the power to personally control every detail through out the world?
