Maybe we need that money to keep other countries from trying to fuck us in the ass as they did on 9/11. The Saudis, in conjunction with Al Qaida, fucked us in the ass really hard. You ever heard of the World Trade Center? So perhaps all that military budget is the reason we have not had another 9/11-style event in 21 years? Protecting our country from external threats is very expensive. And that money protects your freedom to criticize other people's freedom of speech, and your right to piss on the idea that people in this country should pay for their schooling, not suck it out of the pocket books of all the people around them.

The ONLY reason you can do this, is because we have the military budget that we have. Go ahead, try a "Defund the DoD" movement. See how far that goes. lol!

o_O you can't believe what you wrote, I'm sure.

There is zero, none, nada correlation between 9/11 and the size of our military budget or post 9/11 and the lack of direct attacks on the US. But there is a pretty valid argument to make that 9/11 is a result of our foreign policies in the Middle East.
You must remember our little intervention in Afghanistan which cost the US $2.3 trillion? We sure showed them who da boss with our $800 billion military budget. They ain't gonna fk with us again them bearded musleems, right?

Who made out laughing all the way to the bank all these years? Yup, the military industrial complex and the military who found in Afghanistan a new reason to justify their budget, which includes $200k base pay for generals whose intervention in the war is from a tv screen while Tyrone and Johnny get butchered in some shitty desolated desert to defend America.

    It's a fkg joke.

You are the joke. Were you even alive in 2001? You have no idea WTF 9/11 did to this country...

The reason we have not had another 9/11 event is because of the military budget. Some folks tried to get in with shoe bombs and stuff after that, but they were intercepted.

The free content and auditing classes is a hidden treasure. What you describe about the hiring process might be true for corporate culture and companies large enough to have HR dept. With startups and smaller companies not-as-much; it's more about applicable skills, being able to adapt, learn, be flexible and whether they personally like you.

I haven't been in the job market for 2 decades, it might be different now.

I'm almost 60 years old my friend so 2001 was a recent enough event for me, for which I'm reminded every time I fly anywhere.

The moral hazard is free college education? Your terms are acceptable.

You disagree with raising taxes on free college education for American kids of any economic class? BTW, I talk to one guy, he is studying in college i believe finances b/c college education is free for him (he is from low income family) but he wants to be a plumber. So his plans are to go to a technical school after graduation.

I know it's difficult for Americans to comprehend the value of mixed education, such as the guy you talked to. With his finance degree and plumber experience he will know how to fix plumbings and he will be able to run an efficient business which may even grow enough to hire a few guys in the process.
It seems entirely expected today for higher level business and government to have both JD and MBA degrees. So why not History and Biology or Art and computer science? There is so much to learn from people with very different perspectives.
