Nothing personal El Capitan, but he has a point.

  2. This thread is ridiculous. A housemaid or gardener is not a "personal slave." They are free to quit anytime they want. And anyway, how does this law change the current situation? Would it be accurate to say "current law allows personal slaves?"

So, learn how to turn on a lawn mower and a vacuum cleaner. I may start a new thread here giving lessons. Really, not too hard to learn.

  4. Here is how it works in Texas. A contractor hires sub contractors to get work done. There is no law requiring the general to verify the subs employees or subs of the subs are legal or illegal. And no contractor is going to take the time or money to do this voluntarily. This is a 1099 state the great majority of residential and non public commercial work is done this way. I'm talking about construction.

  6. Simply astounding to watch the so-called conservatives rail away against illegal immigration in one thread after another over the years, but then turn a blind eye when it comes to exploiting them for slave wages. Such high minded morality you have, except of course where money is involved.
No illegals should be working here in any capacity, period!

  7. Go ask the Mexican at the day labor standing corner how much it'll cost you for labor. I bet most will be charging $10 and up an hour, cash of course.

    Hello

Pspr was right, you have went off the deepend, no one here is defending exploiting illegals for slave wages, not a single person. You are starting to inch closer and closer to becoming scataphagos by the day, with your angry rants that have very little basis in reality.

  9. There is no gray area on this issue, hard as you so-called conservatives try to see one. Ten bucks an hour is a slave wage for light construction work. Wages have been suppressed in construction and industrial sectors for decades, ever since Reagan unleashed a reign of terror on the working class, financial terrorism which continues to this very day. Let's not forget that it was Ronnie himself that gave amnesty to illegals. Why? Cause he was such a nice f'n guy? No, he knew it would help crush the working class.
Next time you jump to point out the double standards and hypocrisy of the left, just know you'll be arguing from a very weak position when you practice such hypocrisy yourselves on this issue.

The thread title is a bit off base, but Captain Obvious is exposing the hypocrisy of the corrupt politicians.
