  2. Well well, made my first cash trade today.

Funny enough it was an interesting session for me.

I had pre-programmed the limit buys in SPY and around the open with all the volatility that the day was providing a friend called cause he hurt his back and could not work or move or drive.

Long story short I left in a hurry to assist my buddy and did not get in until now, right before the close in afterhours.

    Nearly Photo finish

I had a target of 122.22, target was not obtained.

Maybe next time but green is green, although not what I had in mind.

Made a little above 50 bucks, beginner's luck for sure. :D

Still having trouble integrating NT with IB, won't quit trying

  3. Just finished reading about the S&P downgrade on US Credit.

Should account for some wild stuff next week.

In principle this is bearish for bonds bullish for stocks but if I'm not mistaken this is the first time such thing has happened so not going to make any assumptions on what could happen, I prefer technicals.

Still learning a few things about my new software packages.

  4. Posting intent to buy SPY long term at 112.65 to add to my portfolio which currently consists of T and MO in very small amounts.

Still undecided on number of shares but possibly between 100 and 200 considering the area and the quality of the security.

  6. Great time to start buying high quality ETFs in my opinion so bought a very modest 100 share SPY today as I had planned per my journal entries.

Next SPY investment area for me is 105.50, will buy 100-200 shares there if we visit it.

The volatility is absolutely monstrous and since this began as I started my daytrading journey to cash I have exercised some discipline and decided to simulate the daytrading and exploit the fear with very small progressive investments in cash as stipulated in the journal; all very much long term.

Did well with the daytrades but all simulation so not going to bother everyone with the details.

All in all pretty happy with my trading reads.

  8. What a crazy market.

Took a SIM trade today in Pre-market using the ES.

Worked like a charm, still holding it.

Not used to this volatility so I keep simulating everything but the long term investments.

Seems the key is to use slightly wider stops and reduce size a bit, very nice moves though.

All in all, trading well. Knocking on wood.

  9. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong integrating NT with IB.

Here's a snapshot of the IB configuration.

    http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/1775/ibnt.png

It keeps popping that login screen, eventhough, TWS is already loaded. If I re-enter the info it eventually times out and keeps popping the same window again. Like an infinite loop.

    Any ideas?

I added IB as one of the connects in NT as well, supposed to communicate via DDE but nothing.

Here's a snapshot of the NT configuration.

    Any help deeply appreciated.

  10. Nothing special to report.

Still looking for IB/NET help integration. That has frustrated me a bit and took the day off.

Waiting for more crash levels to buy blue chip ETFs as long term investments to defeat inflation and low interest rate payments in banks.

Crossing fingers that we break SPY 104 levels so I can buy 100 more shares.
