Performance Bond Changes

  1. At its’ meeting on Thursday, November 8, 2001 the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Inc., Performance Bond Staff met to review price volatility for all commodities and approved the performance bond changes described below. These requirements will become effective at the close of business on November 19, 2001.

    E-Mini Nasdaq-100 (NQ)

    Speculation (Decrease)
    Current (initial/maintenance)
    $5,250 /$4,200
    New (initial/maintenance)
    $4,125/ $3,300

    E-Mini S&P 500 (ES)

    Speculation (Decrease)
    Current (initial/maintenance)
    $4,313/ $3,450
    New (initial/maintenance)
    $3,938/ $3,150

    I won't bother to post other rates since I think most ppl here would fall under the 'spec' category.

    Today the NDX closed at 1580 and the SPX at 1139.

    NQ contract value:
    1580x$20=$30,400
    new margin: 7.4:1

    ES contract value:
    1139x$50=$56,950
    new margin: 14.5:1
