President Dwight Eisenhour sent federal troops to Arkansas to force the governor to comply with a Supreme Court decision mandating school desegregation. As far as I know, no troops defected or refused to point arms at their fellow citizens or local elected officials. Obama has been methodically purging the military of officers who do not support his radical policies. The military has gone from the most traditional, religious and family-supportive organization in the country to one that promotes the gay agenda and persecutes Chaplins who refuse to go along. Obama himself has shown a chilling disregard for the Constitution or separation of powers. He does what he wants, whether it is ignoring bankruptcy law or unilaterally modifying Obamacare or making illegal recess appointments when congress is in session. Senate democrats made a naked power grab by claiming that a simple majority vote could overrule the filibuster rules. I wish I shared your confidence that soldiers would not follow orders to engage in domestic repression, but history shows that militaries usually are only too willing to comply, particularly when they have become as politicized as ours is.
Certainly valid points/concerns AAA. Although it seems to me an all out civil war would be a somewhat different situation. And undoubtedly cause some defections from the military.
Honestly, this site looks pretty low-budget. In any case, there are about 50,000-60,000 GSW in US per year. http://www.uphs.upenn.edu/ficap/resourcebook/pdf/monograph.pdf
Lest someone complain because my stats came from the CDC, here are similar data collected directly from hospitals and provided by a non-US peer-reviewed journal. This source indicates that about half of GSW are accidents related to handling and cleaning of guns. http://injuryprevention.bmj.com/content/6/4/268.full
