Welcome to Texas.... only rich people can have power. Texas deliberately cuts power only to non-wealthy neighborhoods in their rolling blackouts.

Wealthy neighborhoods in Texas get slammed for having electricity
'I hope a million investigations are opened after all of this.'

  4. The mayor of Colorado City, Texas has resigned after sparking outrage with a Facebook post where he told residents complaining of power outages during an unprecedented cold snap to “get off your ass and take care of your own family.” Tim Boyd, who announced his resignation Tuesday, also wrote that “if you don’t have electricity, you step up and come up with a game plan to keep your family warm and safe.” “No one owes you or your family anything; nor is it the local governments responsibility to support you during trying times like this! Sink or swim, it’s your choice!” he wrote. The town, with a population of about 4,000, is located in Mitchell County, where many were left without power as record-setting cold weather batters much of the state. In a subsequent post, Boyd apologized, writing, “I was only making the statement that those folks that are too lazy to get up and fend for themselves but are capable should not be dealt a handout.”

I hope the Mayor gives back all the power that the government handed out to him. Now that he resigned I hope no one helps him with anything ever again...

Of course this could ALSO be because newer, more expensive homes have better designed infrastructure that isn't as susceptible to freezes and downed powerlines (because they are underground). But yeah, lets go with "we don't want rich people to freeze". Its better for clicks, right, shrieker?

Maybe the residents of the city need to ask why they have been paying local taxes all of those years -- if the city does not even have emergency coordination and provides assistance in natural disaster emergencies that are life threatening.

In North Carolina recently , in cities of similar size -- when a recent ice storm hit the town/city sent out police/fire/volunteers to check-in on residents to see that they were OK.... and then took steps to take people without power to schools, town buildings, hotels, and facilities that had heat & power.

  8. ERCOT also said it was implementing rolling blackouts on Monday to "to protect the electric grid from uncontrolled, cascading outages."

However, instead of the outages being spread across neighborhoods in shorter intervals, some areas have lost power for days while others have kept it the entire time, Cohan said.

Maybe you need to look-up what a rolling blackout is -- that is deliberately applied from the electric utility company. This has nothing to do with infrastructure in wealthy neighborhoods.

    Are you really this ignorant?
