Does Pence make mistakes... yes. But, does he make unforced political mistakes... not very often. This was likely to be bullshit. While Trump does screw up all the time. Trump did not make it through the normal vetting process Republican have to go through. Pence and many other experienced republicans rarely make unforced errors... They get conservative in their choices. Just look how Cruz has been forced to back out of the spotlight on most issues. Republicans can't make lots of mistakes as prominent politicians because they get destroyed by the national media. So their either have great instincts, or move carefully and have staff that watches out for them. Lefties/Democrats know the press in on their side and they can have all sorts of unforced errors... so they are not as careful or not as good a politician. Rather than seeing this as a liability for Republicans, its actually a strength. Very poor politicians can make it through the democrat ranks if the the media likes them. And, once they get to prominence their careers last far too long. Keeping younger stronger less mistake prone people from replacing them. In short part of the vacuum of leadership in the democrat party (as can be seen by that crop of very poor candidates not be able to take out biden) is because the press does not help cull out past their prime democrats and in part because half them got voted out of office because of Obamacare. (just check the national stats... on this... that is not a political statement... check the stats of how many senators who voted for it got replaced.) . Does Pence make mistakes... yes.
