I'm not american, but as a futures scalper, i will be fuckin' hurt by this tax if it comes out...Perhaps, i will have to change instruments and move to eurex or liffe and work my ass out to find something that suits me there... I'm frightened .
YOU'RE frightened? What about us poor sap Americans? 1. NObama is going to be foolishly elected. 2. He's a dumbass smoker, so he'll probably get lung cancer and die... 3. Biden is OLD and has had an aneurysm (maybe 2?) and will likely pop like a balloon and die... That will leave NANCY PELOSI (aka SUPER-CUNT) as POTUS!!! What could possibly be more scary than that???
Pelosi and company are just fighting mad because they are the cause of ALL of this. They mandated that lenders place bad loans, pure and simple, the lenders found ways to really take the ball and run with it and they did nothing about that at all. They blocked efforts to do anything about it in fact.... If they can fend off blame until after the election they can go back to business as usual like having the government. pay for her household employees because she calls them interns...
i guess i can forget about a govt pension . I am 45 now and figure paying social security and medicare for the baby boomers + 700 bill debt + trillin$ deficit. I guess it will be only the rich and poor like 3rd world countries over by 2025 .
That's the plan, Buckeroo. And those who "took the money and run" will be long dead... so they don't really give a CRAP! (They SHOULD care... they've got kids and grandkids. Still, they really don't give a crap.) Do you know when was the last time the US Gummint had no outstanding debt? 1837... at the end of Andrew Jackson's 2nd term. (Some presidents have thought it irresponsible and immoral for one generation to leave its debts for future generations to pay...)
I wouldn't discount the possibility of a transaction tax. Democrats never met a tax they didn't like, and Republicans have proved they don't give a shit about ordianry investors and traders. The big wall street firms and mutual funds despise daytraders. They still blame us for spoiling the rigged game they had for years with 1/2 point spreads on nasdaq stocks and you couldn't post a limit bid. I can see a lot of votes for a fee to punish "irresponsible speculators". Of course, MMs and fiduciaries will be exempt. Let's hope they don't aplly it to futures and options, but givne the hysteria when oil prices ran up earlier this year, they may just ban those markets altogether.
