Greg Sargent reports "that the DCCC [Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee] is sticking by Occupy Wall Street. Indeed, the DCCC is now raising money off that recent report of a GOP-connected corporate lobbying firm’s proposed smear campaign against the movement. Nancy Pelosi has authored a DCCC fundraising email that presents this as proof that Republicans are on the side of Wall Street and against Dems and the protesters..."

After quoting Pelosi's fundraising letter, Sargent concludes, "the bottom line here is that national Dems are not flinching from defending the protests, and are clearly aligning themselves with its overall critique and its goals, despite conventional wisdom holding that doing this risks immediate political self-immolation."

But if that's the case, Pelosi seems to be missing what the critics of the movement are saying. It is, as John McCormack notes, "an increasingly unpopular, vulgar, and lawless movement." And, as Matt Continetti notes, "The idea is utopian socialism. The method is revolutionary anarchism."

On the Occupy protesters, Pelosi previously said: "God bless them . . . for their spontaneity. It's independent . . . it's young, it's spontaneous, and it's focused. And it's going to be effective."
