Pelosi has lost control and can't stop it. She has been around long enough to know that this Ukraine thing is a beltway issue and yet the dems are salivating over proceeding into impeachment. Pelosi sees the outcome. What little interest there is in the Ukraine thing will have blown over in a month but the dems will be locked into trying to figure out how the hell they get out of this drama that was not supposed to go into primary season and suck all the oxygen out of their campaign messaging. I am pretty sure that the little plan that they had not very long ago- to have this whole thing over by the end of October- is not going well. Mitch tells republicans they need to be ready to go on this impeachment thing. Then Nancy pushes back and says - not so fast- you don't control the timing of this. Heh, guess what. Neither do you Nancy. You dont control when your members get you into this mess, nor do you control the months and months that the Senate will play with it when they get it. Oh, I see. They were supposed to dismiss it on day one. Yeh, maybe. But you dont control that. Could be the exact opposite- all this horowitz and durham stuff may continue to come out and they will want to use the impeachment trial to go at that as part of the witch-hunt defense. Pelosi does not want to do it. Not the full journey. She is in favor banging Trump around with this fake inquiry stuff, hoping that it will get some dirt on him but also help the members to get this out of their system. Yet, it is reaching the point where formal impeachment is inevitable. Yeh. Tell me again how she is in control. Speaking of "formal impeachemnt." Lying arse chris cuomo spoke before the debates and said that this was the first debate since "congress started formal impeachment." And the lefty media has repeated that mantra over and over and over from network to network. Ahhh no, on two counts. First, congress has initated nothing. Just a bunch of dems are doing this. Second, "formal impeachment" does not begin until Congress votes on it. The Constitution vests the power to impeach in "the House" - not some star chamber dem committee hearings and meetings. The lefty media is just flat out lying to the public.
There is no such thing as formal impeachment. It’s just impeachment. The constitution give the house sole power and the power is very broad, on purpose. McConnell seems to think arguing “norms and precedent” is a smart way to go. Uh, might want to find a better spokesman for that, guys. Anyway, everything you wrote is nonsense. The public absolutely supports the inquiry and Pelosi and the Dems are completely in line constitutionally.
If everything is so above board and correctly done, why is everything kept behind closed doors and out of sight from the public? This isn’t the House vs. POTUS. If the President is guiltily let the people decide, bring it all out in the open. Not just the selected talking points.
If there is no such thing as formal impeachment then you might want to give that message to the lefty media that uses that term every five minutes, which was my point, eh? And in regard to "It's just impeachment." Let's just extend that sentence out a bit, shall we? It's just impeachment, as defined by the Constitution. Not a star chamber inquiry be a group of dems who ordered some Chinese take-out and want to interview some witnesses while eating and watching porn on their smartphones. Again, the constitution vests the power of impeachment in the House. You dont know whether that power is being exercised until you have a House vote.
The hearings have been completely transparent to Republicans, regardless of what the latest fox talking points are.
So closed door hearings are important for matters such as these as the inquiry gathers facts. This is especially important as Trump has a history of obstructing investigations. As far as letting the people decide, it’s ironic I have to remind a Republican this is a republic not a true democracy. @Here4money youll be glad to know @Wallet supports the idea that popular vote totals is more important than anything else.
Trump . . . . the Nationalist who wants to bring all American companies home but wants to be Globalist when it comes to his own business dealings. He sends his children all over the world to garner trademarks at taxpayers expense.
