Budget deficit smashes $1 trillion mark, the highest in seven years

The U.S. government's red ink for fiscal 2019 swelled past the $1 trillion mark in August, the first time that level has been eclipsed in seven years, the Treasury Department reported Thursday.

The total shortfall rose to nearly $1.07 trillion, thanks to a difference between revenue and expenses of more than $214.1 billion in August. The government last saw that large of a fiscal deficit in 2012, when the gap was nearly $1.1 trillion.

During his presidential campaign, President Donald Trump promised economic growth that would easily take care of the tax cuts and new spending he planned. His 2017 tax break for corporations and individuals has helped contribute to a deficit that has grown from $584.6 billion in 2016.

North Korea fires 2 projectiles in 8th weapons test since July

    By Associated Press
SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea launched at least two unidentified projectiles toward the sea on Tuesday, South Korea's military said, hours after the North offered to resume nuclear diplomacy with the United States but warned its dealings with Washington may end without new U.S. proposals.

Photos show North Korea may be building submarine capable of launching nuclear missile, report says

New photos taken of a North Korean shipyard suggest the country could be building a submarine that could potentially be capable of launching a nuclear missile, a report early Tuesday said.

The photos show vessels and cranes that could be used to haul a missile out to sea for launch, according to experts at a Washington-based think tank, NBC News reported.

The satellite photos seem to confirm North Korean state media reports from July about a newly built submarine.

“There is no conclusive evidence at the moment that this is a near-term certainty,” an expert said of a possible missile test.

Once a submarine is built, it would take at least a year before it’s ready, according to an expert.

“The construction and commissioning of a true SSB (ballistic missile submarine) capability would represent a significant advancement of the North Korean ballistic missile and nuclear threat and complicate defense planning in the region, given the difficulties of tracking and/or pre-emptively targeting such capabilities,” analysts said and would lower the chances of denuclearization.

Under Trump, the number of uninsured Americans has gone up by 7 million

Even in a strong economy, Americans are losing their health coverage.

The country’s uninsured rate has steadily ticked upward since 2016, rising from a low of 10.9 percent in late 2016 to 13.7 percent — a four-year high.

Lol. Yeah. That chart is great for making your point here... but turn that into a campaign commercial why don't ya.

Who cares? Your needling semantics while completely missing the point of what really matters to an ADHD populace.

Wait till all the right leaning PAC's turn on the monster media machine and flood the airways with his accomplishments. And Wall Street... you can bet your ass they'll be accommodative AF, the powers that be will manipulate appropriately if for no other reason than to keep their golden goose alive. Its all money babe. They could give a f about politics.

What will the Dems have to air? Crying children that shouldn't have been here in the first place? Pictures of smokestacks? Clips of scientists decreeing we have ten years tops? AOC? Omar?

Look, it is what it is. You can't let your personal idealism fog the reality of what is bound to happen. This is a trading website after-all. This stuff is very important and has to be discussed intelligently, not with fucking blinders on.

I agree, I just don't believe money will save the GOP this time. How many billionaires tried to put their name in the hat to be the democratic nominee? The wild card is a dirty electoral process, and there, money can buy plenty votes.

I'm not saying any of the points you make are wrong... but what you are missing is the power of strategic and intense marketing. It can all be lies. It doesn't f'ing matter. Its PT Barnum dude. Facts mean nothing when you are dealing with a sub-IQ populace. You can't see that? Trump sure does.
How do you think Russia allegedly threw the election with less than $30K of Facebook ads? Its the illusion that matters.
    Trump is gonna win bro.

I think you're reading the gut punch wrong this time. If Trump was any smarter, he'd be railing on the democrats ruining his MAGA economy (falsely of course) rather than bitching 24/7 about how they're out to get him.

I don't think so. I have a good read on Trump. This is all noise and he knows it. The impeachment thing, yeah that'll hurt if it happens, for sure... but he knows our attention span. He's waiting for the Dem's pick, then he'll start the barrage.
