I can't believe this is actually news. I can't believe people are making this a topic of conversational when we all know absolutely nothing is going to happen. I dont care what happens one way or another because politics is nothing but nonsense and garbage...its all blah Blah blah... but too anyone who thinks there is an inkling of any kind of impeachment is a fu@king fool. Will never ever happen. So forget about the outcome. The outcome is simple. He will remain president until his term is up.

Impeachment occurs in the House. Clinton was impeached for lying about a hummer. I guarantee the House will vote to impeach. It goes to trial in the Senate to vote on expulsion.

    WHEEEEEEEEEEE!

Joe Biden could be the biggest collateral damage in all this. I think this pertains to corruption in Ukraine and Joe Biden's son a director of a Ukraine company? Remember Paul Manafort who was charged over contacts with foreign governments? Joe Biden being a Vice-President then, with close contact to Barack Obama, President and his son is working for a foreign company which might have business interests if not dealings with the US? So, nothing to see here inspite, of an obvious, conflict of interest, influence peddling, etc. happening behind the scenes? Also, what is the FBI and DOJ doing all this time this was happening? Show the transcripts and let us see what was said between President Donald Trump and the Ukrainian President!

If it falls flat in the Senate republicans have made it legal for a democrat president to do everything Trump has done.

  7. Pretty sure there are not enough votes for successful impeachment so this will be an exercise in futility if it is based on piles of claims and allegations. Will be a waste of time and maybe hand Trump 2020 when he can claim No Collusion and Nothing Impeachable.

Will tie up Congress for quite some time.

My firm bet is this goes no where.

    Exactly, and Pelosi knows that.
Clinton's approval ratings spiked north after his impeachment proceedings.

eh, as long as history shows the House tried to do right by the country (albeit dragging their feet), and the GOP senate went on record with supporting a corrupt criminal, it'll be enough for me. Just like when some of us opposed Iraq, time will expose the truth

No one knows for sure what polls would look like should the Senate try but fail to convict Trump, but there isn't historical evidence indicating that impeachment would lead to Republican electoral success.

Republicans led the impeachment and trial of Andrew Johnson in 1868, and they nonetheless made gains in the Congress and won the White House that year. A largely Democrat-led impeachment investigation of Nixon led to his resignation in 1974, and was followed by massive Democratic successes in the mid-terms that year, and Democrats seizing the White House two years later.

Most recently, the GOP was pursuing Bill Clinton's impeachment at the time of the 1998 mid-term elections and ended up losing a handful of congressional seats—which was unusual for an out-party during mid-terms. But they were also going up against a very popular incumbent, buoyed by a strong economy. And, notably, the impeachment vote occurred the month after the election. Later, after Republicans impeached and tried Clinton, there was a presidential election in which the GOP took control of the White House and kept the Congress, with "Clinton scandal fatigue" cited as a source of voter anger with the incumbent party even during a strong economy.

One can also easily imagine that Republican senators protecting an impeached, unpopular, scandal-tainted Trump from removal would not look particularly good for their party in the elections.

Or lots of swing voters are going to look back over the last two years and say "wtf did our Democrat controlled House accomplish exactly in the last two years?! Not a damn thing. What a waste of money!"

People get sick of sour grapes, non-stop whining, and endless investigations that have produced zilch. Add to that some (yet 2b determined) nut case candidate that wants to forgive all student loans, spend a trillion on green energy, raise taxes to the moon, crash the markets (and hence retirement accounts).. and college educated white soccer moms are gonna say f it... "we'll stick with Trump." People will stay with what they know. OH, MI, Fl, PA, WI, NC.... all Trump's. You watch. People are sick of this bs. I just call it like I see it H4. Its all gonna depend on who comes out and votes.
