Peak oil thread

Discussion in 'Economics' started by m22au, Jun 18, 2010.

  1. So how much do we consume every year, and how much do we discover each year? How large are current proven reserves? How much of that is economically viable?

    First, they proved exactly SHIT...

Second, why would the largest producer of X be interested in telling to its costumers that its supply of X is limited and they would better look for something else for the future??

Third, I am not rude, just factual (and you are a Fox News watcher, are you?). So far you still haven't explained the Buffalo analogy. Even a 4th grader understands that if you use something FASTER then you are replacing it, than eventually you will run out of that something...

Where are the replenishing American oilfields??? We peaked in the early 70s, so 4 decades for sure would show some kind of rate of replenishment.

You Sir, are still a moron, I am definitely correct on that one...

the thread on peak oil emerges every quarter or so here on ET. it amazes me how it is always exactly the same. people even do not bother to google the term but claim they are experts. then somebody victorisously brings abiotic theory and the thread disintegrates into frustration and ad hominem comments.

pekelo i suggest you just give up - you are wasting your time.

and vis-a-vis XOM - there are good reasons why it did not move since december and why it will start to move very soon. I believe XTO votes next weekend...(chanos knows shit - riding still high on his respectable enron victory)

  4. The Child still shows.

They had the science and theory ... they acted on it ... they are the largest oil producer in the world.

    NUFF SAID

I'm not saying that usage and supply and demand isn't an issue. [These are obvious issues.]
Just the baseline of the information is in error and is outdated technical knowledge.

I could be wrong but I remember reading that XOM was one of the few that were able to replace their reserves to keep up with output

  7. Yes, I'm afraid you're right. Abiotic oil is so true, and so plentiful, that wars are not needed for oil. No country ever experiences well depletion, and we don't need to go from conventional sources to unconventional oil.

It's all over the place!!! If only we tried looking for it the way the Russians do!

    Here's my forecast:

As peak oil ensues, delerium over finding oil will intensify. Denial, Anger... etc... well before acceptance.

  9. It isn't really about oil ... it is about control and money.

Controlling both ends of the candlestick of energy and its credit/debit measure ... carbon.

Tax the dumbed down masses to pay for and acquiesce and support green and saving earth.

  10. I think you're confusing two separate issues.

The carbon tax/cap and trade scams are really new financial ponzi systems developed by and for the banksters. They need a new payground/bubble.

Carbon Tax/Cap and trade also serve a geopolitical role - to make manufacturing nations like China less competitive.

Peak Oil has nothing to do with carbon emissions. It is geological and resource oriented, not environmental. It deals with limits and resource depletion.
