PEAK OIL - A myth???

  1. Ultimately, all energy is solar or bio-solar. What happens when that leaf you mentioned and a trillion other leafs and other biomass get compacted and stored deep underground is they turn into coal, or oil, or other forms of "Concentrated Sunlight" as this guy calls it:

Well, not all energy. There are four known forces in the universe: electromagnetic, strong, weak and gravitational. Photonic energy is an electromagnetic phenomena. Hydrogen bombs are a strong force phenomena. etc.

But I understand what you mean in the context of this thread.

I will respond later to the oil from leaves theory.

That is total liquids, the chart was conventional crude...

    1) Total liquids - In December world production of total liquids increased by 745,000 barrels per day from October according to the latest figures of the International Energy Agency (IEA). Resulting in total world liquids production of 87.20 million b/d, which is the all time maximum liquids production. For the third consecutive month world production has increased significantly. The IEA figures result in an average global production in 2007 of 85.26 million b/d, more than the average 2006 production of 85.00 million b/d and the average 2005 production of 84.10 million b/d. The EIA in their International Petroleum Monthly puts the average global 2007 production up to November at 84.53 million b/d, slightly lower than the average 2006 production of 84.60 million b/d and the average 2005 production of 84.63 million b/d.

    2) Conventional crude - Latest available figures from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) show that crude oil production including lease condensates decreased by 202,000 b/d from October to November. Total production in November was estimated at 73.17 million b/d, which is 518,000 b/d lower than the all time high crude oil production of 74.30 million b/d reached in May 2005.

  4. TZ:

    Please explain:

    1) why the U.S. pumped 9.6 million barrels of oil per year in 1970, but now pumps less than 6 Mbpy.

    Please define:

    2) peak oil

Seriously, Martin, you got what you deserved! :)

You were trying an intelligent debate with a factdenier? How silly is that??? I have extensive experience with them and it is impossible to do. Once they made up their minds they close it (supposed it was open to start with) and no amount of information, fact or logic can change it.

The only thing what these kind of threads are good for is raising awareness among those who weren't aware of the problem.

For informational purposes, both pres. Bush (accidentally though) and the CEO of Chevron acknowledged peak oil.... :)

  8. Pekelo-

I appreciate your comments on this thread. I agree: Debating an inferior opponent only convinces them that they are as clever as you.

    edit: corrected spelling error

  9. You stated one fact and declare yourself superior?

Try reading the OP (mine). If you didn't speak only in single sentences, you might be slightly interesting. Your post and your self-declared answer rate you as one of the more simple-minded I have seen on ET.
