Peak Fish

Discussion in 'Commodity Futures' started by ByLoSellHi, Jan 30, 2009.

  1. If fish are gonna get extinct, fish farms will become economically feasable. You can even combine fish farms with algae farms for biofuel. Your mind is too closed, you don't see the opportunity! :p

  2. The only problem with that, of course, is that these fish represent a link in the chain of life. Somewhere, something reactive will occur because of it.

  3. You can also add acidification of the oceans (from absorption of CO2) leading to destruction of the coral reefs - a major fish habitat.

    fisherman go bust when there is no fish to fish. depleted fish.

    just like oil and gold company. there only asset is their reserve of gold or oil in their lease land.

    no futures cause it's a regulated and fish is not a commodity too many varieties of fish size etc and future trading is BANNED too.

    Whats the source for that?? Thanks
    Dont think that is a major factor in salmon or tuna population at all. We do know fish like oil rigs, any similiar''structure''

    Also, Dr are you saying absorption of co2 is ''leading to destruction of coral reefs'';
    you sentence structure imnplies that.

    Also so called ''global warming ''is not causing a slight salmon population decline in Alaska;
    its the [cycle]cooling of the ocean past 2 years. Alaska is doing fine overall salmon population.

    Freshwater bluegill populations have increased for so long ;
    the challenge there is overpopulation, reguardless of any ''so called climate change''. Cute words, climates changes /+ 4 tmes per year. Also known as spring, summer.....:cool:

  9. The concept of peak fish is sooo stupid

    If it was true, fish prices would go up, yet I don't see it happening. Prices are same for many many years

  10. ===================
    Thanks Doc, good tropical point ;
    was aware of problems/opportunity in coral reefs

    Born in 1955, already lived thru ;
    media fear/promoting global freeze,1970s-never happened.

    CNBC ''prediction'' of a non existant [so far]pandemic/epidemic of bird flu[possible but not likely, especially if one washes hands-LOL

    And that article is highjly supsect, simply because they promoted ''climate change'' His picture said''warmer seawater.'' is a cause of coral reef problems[Leaving the false impression of seas warming/climate change ]

    Maybe seas are warming slighly around Australia;
    they had a record heat wave,Not true with Amercia .WEATHER CHANNEL FOUNDER NOTED THE TEMP COOLING IN 2008 CANCELED OUT the average slight temp increae of past 25years. He also said Algore should be sued for fraud.

    ====================================
    Seas have been cooling past 2 years;
    in Alaska salmon areas, but then they arent promoting a ''climate change'' fraud

    Also oak leaves , pine needles are acidic[naturally , not man made acid] ;
    its a natural scientific measure of PH, absolutely nothing to do with ''climate change'', temp warmth or temp coolness.As a matter of fact blueberries require acidic soil, [natural acid]nothing to do with climate change fraud.
