Thank you for your response, and for addressing the question. In theory, yes, we should not have to notify the police. In practice, if they don't like what you're doing, it can have serious consequences. I would be stepping into the line of fire.
Just to be clear... this is the position of police in North Carolina. You come protest then your rear will rot in jail.
Next thing you know they will be riding out to Lexington and Concord to take control of the colonial powderhouses because the locals have been getting a bit too free speechy and assemblyish of late. Not sure that went as well for them as they hoped.
no one is stopping you from protesting. Get a sign...stand on a street corner and scream as long as you wear a mask and practice social distancing from people walking by laughing at you. Write a letter to the editor and find a local community rag looking for material that will publish it. Record a Dick Tok making your case and make it viral among your 3 friends. First amendment right still intact.
They should start challenging this in courts to set limits on the powers of the abusive Governors who think they are above the US constitution.
