  1. ElectricSavant,

    Were you in tax court related to a 72(t) distribution from your IRA or is there something even more obscure that I'll need to research?

  2. I will give you a hint....as I do not want to become a tax advisor to others in this public forum....your on the right track.

    Here is your hint in the form of a question.

    Are you a homeowner?

    Partly right, Electric Savant;
    however might not even sell this home ;
    have sold a home over7 years ago, & home office deduction worked fine -I remember things like that.

    Of course recapture rules may have been different 7 , 8 years ago.:cool:

    With only 24 hours in the day, I skim the yearly IRS update;
    would rather study trading & others rather than BEHEMOTH-IRS tax code.

    True, Michael B,many IRS agents are helpful.

    Speaking of court, have been in small claims court ,designed where lawyers arent necessary. Small claims court was fun;
    but time consuming.

    Dont consider tax matters small and even in years of small or whatever size tax bill;
    repeating pattern- don't consider tax matters small, no matter the size of tax bill.
