Paulson is an ASSHOLE!

  1. this has truly been a masterful job of epic and historical proportions.

the final stroke had to be when the Administration, in all it's glory, took the stage front and center, and proceeded to yell, FIRE! in the crowded theater.

    thats version one.

version two may go something like this...

we are a debtor nation, like it or not. Our way of life requires, is dependant upon, and as we have just seen, (and will likely continue to see) cannot (and will not) function properly except for 'the knidness of others'. In short, regardless of this piece of legislation, we have structural flaws that continue to go unaddressed.

The Administration, (I will give them the benefit of the doubt here) was likely duly (and truly) scared shitless. Over the course of time, if direct measures are taken to correct some of our deficiencies...energy independence, reinvigorating our manufacturing base, we can begin to make some ground on our 'creditworthiness'. Reliance upon the GOP for leadership in the above is futile, and will end badly, as we have just seen, (but hey, what else could be expected from a president 'that stole' the office, (with a little help form his friends at the SC)).

Ironic, and fitting, that the brightest light at the end of the tunnel, is a black man.

If you ask me, waht is and has just occured is long overdue, and a miracle in its own right that it has taken so long. One way or another, this nation is going to have to 'roll up our sleeves', best to do it of our own volition, (if you can say that being brought to the mat and going forward is our own volition).

Hopefully, we get some breathing room, and time, to address some issues, and get 'our house in order'.

If not, we we just witnessed will amount to 'the shot across the bow'.

Stock up on your firearms before they take those too. Then it will be too late.

  4. Why bother trying to go into bizz when you could legally rip people off for millions/billions $$'s legally as a politician? It's B*S* but it's out FAULT. WE PUT UP WITH IT!
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Henry Paulson, the Secretary of the Treasury, is the former CEO of Goldman Sachs, which stands to benefit hugely from the bailout. He received a huge severance pay when he left Goldman and is currently worth about $500 million. At the beginning of 2008 he was worth about $800 million so I would think he is paying attention as his net worth drops. The $700 billion bailout originally contained a clause in Section 8 that claimed unlimited powers for Paulson. It said, “Decisions by the Secretary (of Treasury) pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.” However, at least Congress was smart enough to remove that clause from the bill it considered and then failed to pass

You really think that? More likely the credit needle will have not moved off of "stuck", and they'll be pleading for another $700B.

However once we get used to the idea, each $700B later will be easier to extract from us.

These people are probably the brightest, best educated, and competitive. Most likely they were probably amazed after leaving college that this is how the world operates.

Oth, the parallel equivelant of the brightest and, best educated who hold the opposing view are the social engineers who want to take it all from Wall Street and give to the poor.

I hope they kick ass and beat each other to death.

  10. The entire political system is a stage, an act, a telenovela (as they say in Spain).

No one with any power cares about you as an individual. Paulson, Bernanke, etc...If someone who is better off than you actually helps you, you should thank them until your last dying breath. The world owes you nothing, it was here first.

None of us did anything to stop this. We just sat back, bitched about how bad things were getting and now here we stand--on the train tracks, with the train roaring into town. It is time to take our final gasp of air as a great nation and thank those Americans in the past who paved the road for us to live the way we have over the last 100 years.
