Brilliant recount Landis. Monroe Trout speaks of this moment in Market Wizards - it took $9.5 million out of him in about 10 seconds. Phew!
tudor's lead guy at the time peter borish is interviewed in covel's new film. a must see for traders and investors. http://edge.affiliateshop.com/public/AIDLink?AID=103735&BID=13213
I first met Monroe back in 1986 before he became super famous as a successful hedge-fund manager. Really nice guy. Former captain of the Harvard basketball team at 6'8" tall. Graduated magna cum laude in Economics. His Dad was pretty sharp as I recall too... former CEO and Chairman of American Healthcare Systems. I had a COMEX buddy of mine in New Canaan and Monroe used to come over and play hoops with us.
Landis, this is great stuff!!! You actually know a trading legend! His interview in Market Wizards is tremendously impressive. I suspect you must have some grand memories and stories to tell, and have met many other super traders and engaging characters. Dare I ask - did you ever meet Mark Weinstein? He is also interviewed in the "Wizards" series, but seems to have retained incredible anonymity, in spite of his proclaimed success. Irrespective, your recounts on "regrettably" and Trout were a delight to read.

Quote from marketsurfer: i would take that a step further by saying tape reading is the ONLY edge available for a trader who isnt on the "inside" or cracked some kind of market structure code. trying to trade from a chart is foolishness--proven again and again but they seem to like the pretty pictures and would of could of should of talk of trading in the past. surf This from a guy who can't comprehend the pure value of the information in the tape.
