I have an Ameritrade account with < $25K that I use occasionally to trade options, and it very clearly notifies you on your home page if you have a nonzero number of daytrades, so you can keep track of them to avoid generating a PDT violation. I'd be surprised if they put all the effort into that and then didn't enforce the PDT rule.
