What is unique about Jim Carrey is that he not only did great voice impressions, but he contorted his face to look like the people he was mimicking. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else do it as well. Youtube is filled with examples. I remember when he was on the Alan Thicke show here in Canada before he (and Thicke) achieved US fame, and I saw him do amazing stuff. That was in the earlier '80s. I knew then that he would go far.
I do like Carrey, particularly since he likes Kaufman. As a kid visiting my US family I was extraordinary fortunate to see Kaufman playing somewhere on Long Island.
