Yup. Agreed. But they've got balls. And they believe (however misguided), they are defending liberty and Americans. So for those reasons, I respect them,.

Now Assad is running to the UN, "mommy mommy!", and hiding his military assets behind... civilians.

  4. Because "that's what they're told".... and most are too young, inexperienced and brain-washed to believe other.

Ever notice how the terrorists are all young people? You know, the "believe in the 72 virgins reward" BS? Older jihadists don't fall for that crapola and don't do the martyr shtick.

You didn't address my point, namely, the Syrian government has no interest in using chemical weapons, so old Pat might be correct.

  6. 1. Could be.

    2. Deficit spending... especially on defense (we all want to be "safe" don't we"?)... is an excuse to goose the GDP (on our national credit card, of course)... to make incumbent politicos look good come reelection time.

Eisenhower warned us. We didn't listen, as usual.

Yup, so true. Paper over the hole left from offshoring with extra military and welfare spending. That's what they did. The naz and housing bubble did a good job too...

I sure would like to see some military units starting to refuse orders.

It was not that uncommon in the later years of the Vietnam war.

The left had no problem with it then, surely they won't complain now.
