Part Time Jobs for Traders

  1. There is already a company in the area doing this. It’s called Waiter on the Way. I filled out an application there once, but the guy was a little weird. It was a lot of driving, even compared to pizza. I think it is certainly a unique concept. I believe you call them, place the order and then they call the restaurant and place the order and then send the driver to pick it up. I don’t think they offer online ordering. Pizza places have taken the lead with online ordering, there systems are great. The order is sent right to the store instantly.

Off the top of my head I can think of a few problems. For instance restaurants, especially poorly run ones, often run out of things or don’t carry certain items sometimes and don’t tell anybody about this. It would be very annoying to take an order for a bacon pizza and then call the store and find out they are out of bacon. You then have to call the customer, but they gave you a disconnected number. So you have to wait for an hour till they call back wondering where there food is and now they want it for free.

I think you may have an idea with simply creating a website for places and people can then pick up their food. I don’t know much about building a website, but I’m sure it’s no small task to integrate the online system with whatever POS system the have in the store.

  2. I have been living in the same house for 24 years. I don’t think I’ve ever been away from home for more than a week. Going away on something like that would definitely be an interesting experience. There’s just one problem. You see the screen name? Sandybestdog. My dog is the best dog. I would never leave him and I certainly don’t trust anybody else to take care of him. You people with animals understand. Everybody else doesn’t understand because they don’t have my dog. I hate to think that he is 10 now. He is certainly showing his age, but still loves to throw the tennis ball. When he is gone I think I might do something like travel the world or do some adventure thing.

I’m not much of a swimmer. One area I would like to work in is with animals in some capacity. Not much money in that though. I think if ever I were to get rich, I’d want to buy a zoo, or something like that. I certainly would give a lot of money and try to help animal rescue places. Animals are beautiful creatures and I think it is our duty to ensure their survival and well being. A lot of times they are destroyed directly through our actions. The things people do to animals are appalling. I am no PETA advocate (and I do eat meat, but not much), but I get the Humane Society emails, and I think the work they do is amazing. I think there are way too many humans in the world and not enough animals.

  4. There are only 2 guarantees in life:

    Death

    and

    Taxes

:D and how do you make money off taxes? Learn them and open a business that does tax preparation! I've got over 300 clients, who dish out 40-75$ per hour of my work...My only competitor is H&R Block!

Imagine 1000 customers dishing out 40-75$ for tax prep work...this is only 4-5 months out of the year...a hell of a rush, but then you can deliver pizza for the rest of the year, or go on vacation and trade :)

  5. I think I’ll stick with Turbo Tax. I’ll trust the computer over a person any day. Saves all of my past returns and imports all of the data every new year. I can’t wait till the day when Congress gets off their asses and decides to actually do something. Throw away the 1,000,000 pages off tax code (Accountants Full Employment Act) and replace it with one page. No more deductions, credits, loopholes, or anything like that. First $50,000 is excluded, after that a graduated scale. Make the capital gains rate the same as income so the ceo’s who make $1 a year pay their fair share. Saves billions every year. Either that or get rid of the income tax all together. Lastly, get the laid off accountants to do something productive. However, I think the odds are better that Scarlett Johansson shows up at my door and asks me to dinner (pizza of course).

  6. Haha well Sandy,

I am a tax pro, and I do not use pencil and paper :) we use a wonderful piece of software that does 90% of the work! So essentially, it's almost identical...except that us preparers can find other credits, write offs, etc for the tax payer (usually!).

Also, turbo tax is no good if you are a small business owner or a farmer (lots of farmers around here ;)

And when people call me for "consultation" on starting a small business, I can charge about $50 for a one hour appointment, which consists of me giving them paperwork for a state tax ID and other helpful tidbits...

The idea is this...sure you can use google to learn how to do anything, or use turbo-super-duper tax...but most people like to be served, they don't want to do the research or anything.

It also helps to have a family business since 1946, because everyone knows who you are!

Right now I've got 30,000 advertisements being printed...for .01 a piece...investment wise, I'll be getting at least 10-50 new customers paying me a fee of 50-75$...
I also use facebook to advertise.

It is a good business to get into. Hard work and people skills pays off. Lots of research too...

Sandy, let me know...I can sell you a franchise location if you want!

PS: my buddy just told me the US border patrol is hiring. 36k first year! 70k a year after a few years, sounds better than a part time job to me!

  7. my commercial software saves last year's data as well...I also have 30x as many forms as turbo tax for many kinds of returns..

oh and did I mention, taxes and the US will grow more complex? The probability of taxes becoming less burdensome is very low...
