  2. I'd like to see facts on what percentage exactly was contributed to Obama's campaign by Rezko during the period in question. If it is a significant percentage, then, IMO we have a politician who early in his career made a tough, possibly unethical decision. To that I still say he admitted that he took money from this person... the amount may or may not be an issue - it is a gray line due in part to the fact that most politicians NEED financing of any kind. Remember that not all politicians come from a Bush dynasty of oil fortunes or a Cindy "Budweiser" McCain fortune, or a Heinz-Kerry fortune. If in fact Obama managed to get a few 100k or so from some shady Chicago businessman to get elected... well, I don't necessarily fault him for it. Money is money and he needed campaign funds.

And yeah, I remember my biggest down days because we're traders and that's the part of the job that stings the most. I don't really remember exact numbers for my big up days or my net annual (I don't do my own taxes). But, we are money focused and I do not think Obama, like the most of the population, cares that much about his campaign's P&L, you're forgetting he's a democrat and believes in redistribution of wealth, not exactly a money-focused type of personality IMO.

  3. You need to look a little more closely at just what kinds of educational "reforms" Ayers pushes. Hint: it's not back to basics. His foundation that Obama ran distributed large amounts of money to radical groups to try to politicize education even more than it is.

  4. I love code words like "education." As if Ayers is lobbying for back to basics reading and comprehension skills, lol.

  5. Hmm well why don't you enlighten us AAA, about Ayers' educational reform philosophy?

  6. Ok, so Pabst and AAA suspect indoctrination is happening diguised as education. If that is true (and it is not so crazy a thought because Castro did not claim to be for communism until after he has power) how could republicans and many people who are for capitalism not see this? Especially in America where all the information is allowed? And many people who support Obama are educated about past communist movement in America?
It look like to me that Obama is in the middle somewhere, not a communist, but is supported by people who once radical. Just my opinion.

  7. About that education fund (again):

which is supposedly "radical" has the support of the republican governor, has been described by Education Week as "main stream", and has republicans running it as well as dems including one republican who made a generous donation to Mccains campaign.

  8. One of the things younger leftists don't understand is those who're already massively wealthy are bulletproof from the effects of higher taxes. I posted this line before: Who is concerned more about top rates, Bill Gates or Phil Michelson? Many ultra-rich want to feel good by voting liberal. Like they're in touch and giving back. Guilt is an immense emotion. Those ultra-rich though probably don't work. Their income is unearned. If your dividend/interest income was in the tens of millions on holdings in the hundreds of millions would you care about an extra 5 million a year in taxes?

How about the entrepreneur (like traders) who only have one or two big years a decade? If your income is like this 60k, 90k, (30k), 195k, 620k, 85k then it matters a great deal how much of that 625k year you can pack away. In a weird sense the Democrats perfectly capture the new America. Put the poor on the public doll from the rich and let the middle-class fight from becoming poor without allowing them to become rich. High taxes on wages then become a de facto Caste system.
