The middle ground is not static, as the situation changes so does the middle ground. The original UN partition was the middle ground in 1948, it was no longer the middle ground in 1949. Are Palestinians willing to accept a two state solution with borders close to the 1947 proposal? All current proposals are based on 1967 armistice lines, not on 1948 border. And frankly the problems have nothing to do with specific borders, the Arabs refuse to recognize Israel's right to exist in principle. And the Israelis? No, of course not, those borders are indefensible. Besides as I mentioned before that was the price of the Arab refusal to recognize Israel and their attempts to wipe it off the map. They are not entitled to a full refund.
