v2.97 is now available for download on the Pairtrade Finder website. I see Jarrad is now trading Forex using Pairtrade finder software. Has anyone else tried this strategy.
Where did you see that Jarrad was using PTF for Forex ? Nice to see you back Jonny. I'm still bashing away in the UK and looking forward to Beta testing the new CFD exchange that Betfair are due to start next month. I'm hoping it'll allow users to input the prices they want like Betfair and if it does, expect the whole CFD world to change.
Thanks for that David. I'll have to take a look. Like many others I've been burnt in the past trying my hand at FX. Short term I believe its behaviour is pretty much a random walk interspersed by movement due to news events and banks 'doing stuff'. Personally I would have thought the market far too efficient to make money using simple software such as PTF but it would be interesting to hear from anyone who has used the software this way. Count me as a skeptic as far as FX is concerned. Also, I'm not certain how to get live FX info into PTF.
That pdf also contains some erroneous info imo. It says they give their alerts at between 15:00 and 15:30 New York time which is around 20:00 - 20:30 London time i.e after the London session which is, as most people know, the most active session. Liquidity at these times is much lower than when London is going. Also betting 20% on each trade seems a bit dangerous to me too.
Sometimes he will do a mailout, however he mostly posts in the pair trading forum when new releases come out, so i just check in there, the latest version is actually 2.97 which is a pretty good improvement from them, being able to import futures, options, fx and backtest 10yrs and customize signal settings for each group.
yes, almost full time pair trader here, ive got other business that keeps me busy, however i only put in around 30mins a day on trading, 20mins finding trades/reading news, 5mins executing trades, 5mins record keeping. keeping it simple is the key, i used to watch the screen all day, but as most experienced traders know, day trading can be bad for your physical and mental health.
Jared sent me a new user manual which explains how to import FX data. You have to subscribe to a live IQ feed but I've decided I dont want to subscribe as I already have a data feed. I've been testing a stat arb EA in MT4 with FX and think one has to be very careful using this type of routine as there are so many external influences that are going to have an effect on one currency more than another. I'll monitor how it gets on but I remain a skeptic.....
