I don't know for sure what you are experiencing, or not experiencing. You must first Add stocks to various groups (Financial, Gold, Restaurants, Favorites, etc), then Add the Pairs from a group of stocks, then those pairs will appear in the "Console" Then in the list of pairs showing in the Console, you can select the pairs to analyze. There are two ways to Add Pairs from your groups of stocks. You can manually add each pair, by clicking on the tool bar button, or you can Backtest the group and select pairs to add from the list of stocks that you choose to back test. Does this help? Walt B
I have only one group, called "oil stocks"...of about 100+ stocks, the back tester and everthing has already ran..so now I'm in consol. I figure trading the pairs that have the highest correlation will be my best trades, so I want to add the top 10 to my portfolio. and I don't know what the yellow part means by "in trade"...i dont have any trades.
You could add each pair individually, but it is easier to add them as a bunch. Click on backtest. You'll see the list of stocks in your selected group. Click on the stocks you want to use in your pairs. The software will make every conceivable pair from what you choose. It's best to have less than 20 stocks, probably 10, in my experience. If you have more, it will be a very large number of pairs, and it will take a VERY long time to compute all of the data when making the pairs. Plan to do something else for an hour. 100 oil stocks is not practical. 100+99+98+97+96... etc pairs! That's something over 5000 pairs. Review the pairs for profitablility, correlation, whatever you like. Select the ones you like and in the backtest window, click on "Save Pairs" tab to add them you your console. (Pairs are not saved until you click on Save." PTF software works best with fewer than 250-300 saved pairs, total. Maybe more. Walt B
I dont understand then, how is it going to find the best pairs, if it doesn't scan every stock in that secor against eachother?... I still cant figure this out...i have 100's of pairs that have been givin to me, but I still am unable to add anything to "my portfolio" as done in the video. I right click on the pair in consol and click "analize pair"..the ADD button that he clicks in the video is NOT on my softare... getting frustrated. thanks for the help tho walt
I've sent you a PM. The Youtube video is outdated. The software has been updated and some buttons may have been changed. There is no longer a "Portfolio" module. The software manual may help you. Also searching for PTF in this forum will help. And reading past postings. Walt B
If I buy the software, will future upgrades be given free or will I have to pay something at that time? Thanks
How do i find pairs that match stocks within a certain price range?..is it possible to do this on ptf?... you can see here the stocks I selected, while all in the same sector, vary greatly in price.
