In my experience many people with very high I.Qs have trouble expressing themselves. Especially as their claimed I Q gets very high.

(this has nothing to do with Pabst... as I think some of his non racial put downs are genius.)

  2. Likewise.
Although I intensely disagree with your message (and the manner in which it is delivered) at times, I must grudgingly offer the genuine compliment "you think more than most".

I also have a pretty good handle on your doctrine: "Provocation As Intellectual Stimulation".

So you're a published writer. I plead guilty to jealousy. Some of your critics here seem to be very creative writers themselves and have picked your work apart quite thoroughly. Those kind of people intimidate me, but I still want to try my hand at writing someday anyway. Some famous dude who died a long time ago said that the unexamined life isn't worth living, and I've heard many interpretations of those words. By being a published author you have laid yourself open for examination, and by that dead dude's qualifications, your life is worth something.

  4. “For ever reading, never to be read.”—Dunciad iii. 194.

One of my new years resolutions sometime ago was to see how many "letters to the editor" I could get published in area papers etc. in a year.

p.s. Which brings me to my second favorite quote; "I've read myself stupid".

  8. Please refer you to my original post in this thread wherein I only made a passing reference to the grammar in Pabst's article. The remainder of my post was an assessment of content. As for my coming across as "insanely jealous," you are being rather disingenuous. You will recall that you sent me a PM on April 11 of this year asking me to write a column for the very same web site. You will also recall that I declined your kind offer. So, no, I'm not insanely jealous. Pabst may be many things, but a skilled writer is not one of them.

  9. I think Madonna is a crappy vocalist. No range, little styling-the pop quality of her songs though is strong enough that almost any singer would have scored hits with her material.

My criticisms of Madonna cause her as much sleeplessness as your critique of moi......
