  1. Culture is nothing more than the collective mores of the people inhabiting a society.

It's an equation. People+ social habits=culture. Of course 1001 sub-groups are contained within.

Blaming the actions of people because of THEIR accepted culture is disingenuous.

You're missing the point here. Nobody is blaming anybody because of their culture. The point here is the view that one culture is better than another because of certain issues. As I mentioned earlier, that is purely subjective. People from different cultures love and respect their cultures and wouldn't trade their culture for another, come what may.

Blaming the actions of people because of THEIR accepted culture is disingenuous

Can you point out any one single instance where I have engaged in such activity? I won't mince words when people are bigots. I can't tolerate bigotry and will never hesitate to call a spade a spade, which has no bearing on culture but on the actions of people, whichever culture they may belong to.

  3. Just because people are born into certain culture doesn't mean that culture is an equal to other simply because they don't know any different one.
My opinion is that culture where the individual rights are
greater is better then the one without individual rights .
BTW i know very well both types of societies ( lived there )

You're entitled to your opinion . The problem arises when you try to enforce that opinion on others. What is better for you may not be seen in the same light as another person from a different background.

  5. You are changing subject, nobody , certainely not me, is forcing anything on anyone. We are just discussing cultures.
In your opinion, which is the better culture, the one which offer civil rights to its members or the one where there are no civil rights for individuals?

I am not changing the subject. You came into the discussion at a later point in time. The issue being discussed was that one culture is better than another. Just beacuse one offers civil rights to its members does not neccesarily make it a better culture. There are so many facets to a culture.

A suicide bomber in Iraq sacrifices his life. This is not done in other cultures. Does this mean that one culture is better than another?

Pornography is extremely popular in one culture. It is taboo and shunned in another culture. Does this make one culture better or worse than the other?

Pre-marital sex is the norm in one culture. In another culture it is prohibited and not partaken in until the marriage is consummated. Does this make one culture better than the other?

Drugs are used without any inhibition in one culture. They are not used in another culture. Does this make one culture better than the other?

  7. Disagree 100%. Suicide bombers don't sacrifice anything since they have been brainwashed into believing that they will live forever in heaven with God's blessings and that they bring honour to their families.

Suicide bombers are murderers, plain and simple. Calling their act a 'sacrifice' is to suggest that they have a moral leg to stand on. They do not.

A Mom and Dad who work their asses off and save every penny to send their kids to school sacrifice something.

I am not sympathizing with suicide bombers. The point being made here is the contention that one culture is superior to another based on a person's subjective views. By no stretch of the imagination am I suggesting that his sacrifice makes his culture superior to another. It is puerile to assert one culture's superiority or inferiority based on an individual's arbitrary views on culture. A culture is the sum and substance of all its parts. People who are born and bred in a particular culture have views that differ from outsiders looking in .
I was addressing a poster's assertion that he considered some cultures to be better than others and that "his culture happened to be pretty good."
