  1. Stock and mutual fund investing are all a gamble,in my opinion, although writing covered calls help reduce your risk and capture premiums.Better investments are real estate and gov't bonds.

...has the same risk factor as naked shorting puts.

  5. Exactly correct - but it's a point so many covered call writers don't seem to understand.

Loads of CC guys lost their shorts during the post-bubble slide.

Considering he meant stock investment protection, naked shorting puts makes no sense.

Outsourcing is great, just like buying all those dam-n foriegn cars. If everyone would just buy Hyundais we could all move to China to look for work. Wouldn't that be nice. (So to speak, I know it's Korean) :)

maybe i didn't make myself clear: writing covered calls isn't "investment protection", it's the equivalent of naked selling puts.

long stock + short calls = short puts

if you wouldn't recommend naked selling of puts, then you can't recommend writing covered calls since it has exactly the same risk profile.

  9. Trillions of dollars in lost wealth for the country and they still don't get this concept...

Like I said it's been 20 years since I bought a Domestic and there is no sign of me doing so soon.

Germany and Japan love me but it was my American brothers that lost out and are still losing out because of this political stupidity.

  10. Selling covered calls isn't investment "protection"

Married puts could be considered "protection", but not CCs - it's a common mistake promulgated by all those "sell covered calls and make a fortune" frauds that popped up during the bubble
