How much does the Pro Version of Melody Scanner cost?

The Pro Version of Melody Scanner, known as the Premium subscription, offers two payment options: a monthly plan and an annual plan.

The monthly subscription is priced at $5.99, while the annual subscription costs $44.99. Subscribing to the Premium version provides users with additional features beyond the free version. It unlocks several enhanced functionalities, allowing users to get the most out of the Melody Scanner app.

    Benefits of Premium Subscription
    • Full Sheet Access: The Premium subscription removes limitations imposed by the free version, enabling users to transcribe sheets beyond 40 bars.
    • Uploading Files: Users can upload their own music files for transcription, a feature not available in the free version.
    Subscription Flexibility

The Premium subscription can be canceled at any time, with users retaining access to Premium features until the end of their subscription period. This flexibility allows users to evaluate the service without long-term commitment.

I just recorded a short piano piece and I want to sponsor a contest on YouTube where I award $100 to the person who puts it together with one or more surreal, symbolic or emotional scenes to create a music video that I like above all the other submissions. What are the guidelines I need to follow if I do this?

    YouTube’s contest policies and guidelines

All contests run on YouTube or that use YouTube are subject to the below rules. In addition, your contest cannot be run or conducted in a way that conflicts with our Privacy Policy. The content also cannot conflict with YouTube's Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.

YouTube does not allow contests to be run through ad units. If the contest conforms with the below rules, you can use contests through your content on the platform.

    I. General Restrictions and Requirements:
    1. You're solely responsible for your contest.
    2. Your contest on YouTube must comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, including U.S. sanctions.
    3. Your contest cannot infringe upon or encourage the infringement of any third-party rights or the participation in any unlawful activity.
    4. You cannot ask the viewer to give all rights for, or transfer the ownership of, their entry to you.
    5. Your contest must be free of charge to enter (don't forget to check your local lottery laws!).
    6. You and any third-party may not manipulate metrics on the YouTube service to misrepresent genuine viewer engagement with the YouTube service. These metrics include numbers of views, likes, dislikes, or subscribers.
    7. You cannot associate or affiliate YouTube with your contest without YouTube's prior written consent. This rule prohibits, among other examples, expressly stating or doing anything that suggests that YouTube is involved with or has endorsed your contest in any way.
    II. Your Official Contest Rules:

Community Guidelines and indicate entries that don’t comply will be disqualified.
    b. state all disclosures required by all applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations, including U.S. sanctions.
    c. are wholly compliant and consistent with the YouTube Terms of Service.
    • Your contest must be conducted, and all prizes awarded as outlined in your Official Rules.
    • You're responsible for your rules and all aspects of your contest administration.
    • Your rules must clearly state that YouTube is not a sponsor of your contest and require viewers to release YouTube from any liability related to your contest.
    • You must include a legally compliant privacy notice in your Official Rules. This notice explains how you'll use any personal data you collect for the contest and adhere to that use.
Disclaimer: We're not your attorneys and the info presented here is not legal advice. We give it for informational purposes and suggest you seek advice in your jurisdiction for running a contest legally.

To promote your YouTube contest, consider the following tips:
    1. Have a clear goal of what you want to achieve.
    2. Ensure the prize matches your channel.
    3. Make entering the contest simple to encourage participation.
    4. Cross-promote your contest on social media or in other videos.
    5. Leverage social media platforms and collaborate with influencers to reach your target audience.

Somebody posted an ad saying they were looking for LoFi/chill instrumentals, which is why I uploaded this tune to YouTube so that I can direct the individual here to listen to a sample of what I can do, should they elect to do so.

    Basic Songwriting Reminders:
    1. A well-crafted song conveys a poignant narrative that evokes strong feelings and resonates with the listener's emotions. Such a piece captures attention through its heartfelt themes, drawing the audience into its message and experience. Ultimately, it is the emotional depth of the story that fosters a connection between the song and the listener.
    2. It doesn't matter if your song is "better than anything you hear on the radio" if it doesn't click with today's culture/audience.
    3. Make sure you're clear on what is the ONE thing that a given song is about.
    4. Know what (be clear on) what the character in your song wants.
    5. Keep your pronouns (within the song) consistent.
    6. Avoid time jumping.
    7. Don't be a slave to rhyme if it diverts you from the song's core message.
    8. Give your songs your own unique sound, voice and style rather than trying to purely copy what you hear being played in the market. (To stand out, you have to have something fresh.)
    9. Include lyrical and musical contrast.

Since my song "I Came Back" was one of the five finalists in the Christian category of the Song of the Year contest that finished up on November 20, 2024, I decided to enter this one in the Instrumental category of the 6th contest of 2024. This work was inspired in part by certain 1990s British, German and Japanese music that made deliberate use of glitch-based audio. It chooses to embrace the imperfect for the purpose of injecting a measure of freshness, innovation and creativity into what some might otherwise regard as "more of the same" and hopefully, in the process, frees a bit of the potentially intriguing and compelling elements residing within the piece.

The category winners will be announced by January 30, 2025.

USA Songwriting Competition required me to provide a website if I wished to take part in their Christmas Song contest, so I had to upload this tune to YouTube if I wanted to enter.

The end of Finale has left many musicians searching for a new solution to compose and edit their sheet music. Fortunately, several solid alternatives exist, both paid and free, like Dorico, Sibelius, Noteflight, MuseScore, and TuxGuitar.

    What's free?
    • MuseScore: A free, open-source program that allows users to compose, arrange, and share sheet music. It supports import and export via MusicXML, MIDI, and other formats, and is compatible with Guitar Pro. MuseScore is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems, as well as Android and iOS.

    • Noteflight Basic: A free, browser-based notation program that is relatively easy to use.

    • TuxGuitar: A free, open-source tablature editor that allows users to create and edit guitar tabs and sheet music. It supports the import and export of Guitar Pro files (gp3, gp4, gp5).
Sibelius First is a free version of Sibelius that allows up to four staves. You can add more capabilities with Sibelius Artist or get everything with Sibelius Ultimate.

Noteflight Premium is generally available on a subscription basis. The main offerings typically include options for monthly or yearly subscriptions, allowing users to choose a plan that best suits their needs.
    Current Plans

As of 2024, the pricing details are as follows:

Monthly Subscription: This is suitable for users who need flexibility and do not wish to commit to a long-term plan. The price is approximately $7.50 per month, which allows users full access to premium features.

Annual Subscription: A yearly subscription might offer better value for regular users. The annual cost is typically around $49.00, averaging to about $4.08 per month when billed annually.
