I think it must have been one of these idiots. <img src=http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSXRlJuQp-Zh4BEuo12OoCyrRDVrJDkUkyHgPB9FrSA7GImiddaug> <img src=http://images.sodahead.com/polls/002837631/354044848_debbie_wasserman_schultz_goofy_xlarge.jpeg> <img src=http://curtislowe.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/hillary-goofy-thumb.jpg?w=182&h=152> <img src=http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_omk7dxCwoak/TTCRjrVVVII/AAAAAAAAEeY/sjFvxEPoLw4/s1600/pelosiNOREGRETS%2521.jpg> <img src=http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSuyEhUXDhJvRmOGXGUi_rYORsajbSeh3c9onL6snTpwvwFmIcj>
fire drills Hell we did atom bomb drills when we were kids. I'm willing to bet you did too since I think we are about the same age. I remember some schools actually had designated shelters with signs like seen below. useless for atom bombs but pretty good for tornadoes.
I'm 52 The nearest fallout shelter back then I remember was downtown, maybe a 20 min or more drive away.
We did those, too. I remember we all sat against the lockers in the hallways. Since I was in North Omaha and SAC was in South Omaha it's possible our brick school was far enough away not to get blown down. Of course, the radiation would have probably killed us in a few days if the flash didn't blind us.
Right after I left. I didn't know many people from Council Bluffs. It seemed we always stayed in Nebraska. Then I was in Lincoln until 1972 then moved to Colorado for the next 20.
Did you ever do the "duck and cover" drills? I don't remember doing those, but I remember being shown where the fall out rooms were in the schools I attended. Now that I think of it, it seems we were shown movies about duck and cover in the 60's.
