No, it is about socialism. For several months, you literally had people in the streets of Portland, Seattle and other cities wearing the communist hammer and sickle and burning American flags. You can say these are fringe groups, but the younger generations are moving towards socialism. That's a cultural issue as I was saying earlier that cannot be easily reversed. https://news.gallup.com/poll/268766/socialism-popular-capitalism-among-young-adults.aspx As far as gay and women's rights, no elected official on the right is against those things today. They might not favor special rights, but no one is against equal rights. Some claim that abortion is a women's rights issue, although it clearly affects both men and women.
There are many elected officials who are against gay marriage. Portland doesn’t represent the liberal political voice which in reality quite center. Abortion is a man’s issue in so much as conservatives want to control women. The political conservative voice has shifted right (Gingrich strategy) and now gone outright insane with the head of the Texas GOP recommending secession.
Gay rights, women's rights... Equal pay for equal work. That is what matters. Who he hell cares or even knows if you are gay. Can you do it? Then you get paid. Women's rights...Why is this still a thing? Wasn't there a constitutional amendment about that a century ago? Equal pay for equal work. That's it. That's all there is.
probably, the move is for running away from rules, regulations, taxes in California. Though I think it's jus symbolic move like some companies register their domicile in Cayman island, but its soul and body like Oracle or other big tech companies are still in Northern California (nice weather, proximity to the ocean, talent human resources). 1) who's smarter? Northern California Vs. Southern California 2) who's smarter? New York City Vs. LA 3) who's smarter? Texas Vs. Northern California 4) who's smarter? Northern California Vs. Massachusetts
Data has shown that the people moving to Texas actually vote slightly more conservative than the natives. It is not a huge difference, but it seems like the people bailing out out of California are the Republicans. California does have millions of Republicans also. Also, Texas was Democrat already until about the mid 90s. Until 1994 they had a Democrat governor. They had a US Senator also as a Democrat until 1993. So the recent Republican trend has only been 26 years or so. These things go in cycles. Labor used to be solidly Democrat. Now blue collar labor voters are trending Republican.
Good 1st post, welcome to the forum. While I suspect that there are many elected officials that don't like the idea of gay marriage, I don't know of any that are actively opposing it. Even Mitt Romney was against gay marriage and I suspect he still personally does not like the idea. However, according to Wikipedia, since 2012 he has supported anti-discrimination laws and domestic partnership benefits. So what elected official is campaigning on removing equal rights and protection for gays today? I don't know of any and I suspect that would hurt them politically. I think it does. It's a solid blue state and has been for a long time. But ok, how about Bernie Sanders? How about AOC? Read AOC's twitter feed and then tell me she's not an outright socialist / communist. She's a prominent figure in the Dem party and easily won against her last challenge...that woman from CNBC who was far more qualified and intelligent. Abortion affects unborn male babies just as much as unborn female babies. Actually, it's an even bigger racial issue considering that minority babies in terms of race are disproportionately aborted...only bringing that up though because the left loves to bring up racial equality issues. Crazy when Texas does it, justified when California and other blue states tried to do it? https://yescalifornia.org/
It’s not worth arguing this with you. your world view is not the same as mine. Check your sources. Bernie and AOC (while both vocal) carry little influence in the Democratic Party; while president trump has gotten 126 elected republicans to support anti-voting lawsuits. many politicians (mostly republicans) are against gay and transgender rights. Mitt Romney is now a RINO. He wasn’t even invited to speak at the convention so don’t bring him as an example. The president even signed executive orders to ban them from the military. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna993826 Re: abortion you are muddying the waters. Man bangs (or rapes) woman. Woman gets pregnant. What happens next? Who is obligated to support the child. Woman gets really sick. She might die if child is born. What happens next? Who gets to decide? Was yescalifornia set up by the head of the California Democratic Party?
