  1. They're hiring more people now than ever. 5 people each month for the next few months. Heard it straight from the source.

Interesting so it isn't a bubble sheet, and there is room for a quick 2 line calculation on each problem. Are the 2nd and 3rd tests along the lines of the IMC exam?

i mean, the first test is basically a bubble sheet, and the 2nd and 3rd tests are bubble sheets. the way you mark your answers isn't what they're looking for.

i don't know anything about the IMC exam. the descriptions of the 2nd and 3rd rounds for optiver posted elsewhere on ET and other forums are fairly accurate. you can study and prepare for the math stuff, but it's mostly show up, be smart, hope to do well. and definitely try not to get any wrong - that's most important.

Hi, I just applied online via the Optiver website a couple days ago. As I am not a citizen in the states, the EU or Australia I was wondering what my chances were of getting an interview/chance to take the test.

Could any of you shed any light on this as well as how long it usually takes for Optiver to get back to you once the application is received?

  6. I have a preliminary interview with HR from Optiver tomorrow morning for a Quant Researcher position in Chicago. Given all the discussion on this board has been about trading positions, can anyone provide insight into the interview process for Quant Researchers?

Anyone know how I should address the inevitable question of "What do you want to get paid question?" (I have 3-4 years of financial modeling/trading experience at a large bank and 2 small hedge funds, and another 3-4 years in software engineering). Given the state of the financial world, wondering what "going rate is these days". Does anyone know any Quants at Optiver and know what they make? ;)

Do you think Quant Researchers will have to take this 8-minute numerical test?

  7. Ask for a minimum 500K. They are going to expect a lot more profit from you for the firm and fire you if it doesn't happen

  8. Thats seems like a lot , but i guess with bonus potential perhaps (even in this day and age) -- i was going to say $120k Base salary, with uncapped bonus. Do you think $120k Base is a bit low for a place like Optiver? Do Quants typically get a draw off the traders P/L at these types of shops?

  9. These guys think big; best show you think big or ask for a percent of the profits vs. a number.
