Options Executions and Brokers?

  1. Did you call IB or use the online assistance or post on the IB bboard? I hope the first they heard about this error wasn't your post here on Sunday.

  2. Of course I called them after a 10 min hold.

This is not the first time I have had an issue with options trades and IB and if I wasn't doing the exact same trades on optionXpress without incident I would say it might be me BUT the fact that I am doing the identical trades in both places only proves that it is IB's stupid platform and lack of quality support when there is an issue.

So far to date IB has cost me aprox. 5k in missed opportunity costs with options trades.

Like I said they are excellent for my futures trades but for options, bring your business elsewhere or you will regret it.

Then to add insult to injury I have to listen to IBsoft's stupid arrogant remarks and excuses, not "sorry Mr. customer that gives us $250 per day in commision, we will look into this asap".

    Samson,

I think Options Express charges a $14.95 minimum commission per options order. I guess that's OK if your trading 10 or more at a time. Personally I am in the 1 to 5 league.

I do hope you get proper consideration from IB regarding the problem. Please keep us posted.

  4. Ron thanks for your concern, I just hope that the commision saving doesn't cancel itself out with one or two bad issues with IB options trading.

I doubt they even give a hoot to be honest.

I thought everyone got paid for option order flow. Something about exchange-mandated marketing arrangements or something like that.

  10. TOS in only superior in the sense that they have the ability to work an order for you on the floor. IB beats TOS as far as network and latency. TOS clears through IB so there is little reason to choose TOS, unless you need to work an order at a post or need some hand-holding.

Timberhill[IB] is the largest MM on the ISE. They're offering screen-markets on combos + spreads through the SMART-routing. It's a huge advantage to trade a combination w/o routing the order to the post and working a combo or spread electronically, w/o any human intervention.
