Option Software

  1. Hopefully people who trade options come here, I figured this was the right subforum.

I am looking for some option software, I prefer an excel add in. I was going to go with Peter Hoadleys add in:

    http://www.hoadley.net/options/options.htm

But then I downloaded the trial. It does not work, and he doesnt offer any support for the paid version. I emailed him a few times and he was quite unpleasant to deal with. I can easily figure out how to use his software via the write-ups and manuals online, but given how crappy the trial was, and how hard he is to deal with, I am looking for some other options.

    Other stuff I have found:

    http://www.etfoptiontrader.com/option-pricing-model.html
    http://www.samoasky.com/optionoracle-image/
    http://www.oedge.com/index.php
    http://www.optionvue.com/

I would prefer not to spend as much as optionvue costs, and there are other good options in that price point I didnt link, but I am not sure it is necessary to spend that much.

Does anyone have any recommendations or experience?

I've used hoadle for years and it's very powerful, works well and links to datafeeds for option chains, quotes etc.

Can't comment on the trial -- never tried it. But the add-in you pay for and the options strategy tool have no bugs and do most of what optionvue does.

He does provide support but you won't need much of it. When I've contacted him he's responded quickly and solved my problems.

  3. Thats good to know. The fact that it is almost as powerful as optionvue is what drew me to it.

Question: Are the graphs, charts, tables, etc "built in"? In the trial they weren't, you would just 'input the formula' per se (although I could never get past that part because it was so buggy) but I assumed graphs, charts, tables, etc would be built in. I guess I can build anything out, but I prefer to have something already done.

    Thanks.
