Finally good news out of Afghanistan:

" Opium cultivation in Afghanistan has hit record levels - up by more than 40 percent from 2005 - despite hundreds of millions in counternarcotics money, Western officials told The Associated Press."

I wonder, when does the CBOT start to trade opium futures? I am sure long on it...

  2. When it becomes legal. Of course as soon as it becomes legal most of the profit dissappears.

  3. Yeah, your kinda stuck with Halliburton until then.

Bah, 40% is nothing compared to +2000% the year after we kicked out the Taliban.

Nobody pointed out yet, but if the commodity had a good year, thus plenty on the market, I should be shorting it instead of being long.

Yeah, but are you sure that demand has peaked? How much of that +40% increase in production is sitting unsold? Would street-prices drop if you moved it?

Ummmm, you missed maths class in high school?

the 40% growth is ON TOP of the +2000% yearly compound growth.

All flowing into the coffers of the largest drug dealing and money laundering operation in the universe. The CIA.
