Hi, I'm new to call auction. I understand that in Asian markets such as Hang Seng, there is a 15 min pre-market session for people to place Opening call. I wonder if the same thing happen in the US markets, particularly the S&P and also the commodities. Almost all US markets have a continuous trading session but is there still an Opening Call auction happening? I read the term "Opening Call" from various materials but I don't seem to find such a mechanism, is it obsolete or something? Also with all the continuous trading session, do we still get a "normal" open hour (not the official open hour, but the practical open that we can trade from) that we can consider as Open or it just varies from day to day?
