4 fills, 1 long, 3 shorts, 3 winners, 1 loser, -0.05 average. Missed the upgrade on HOG in the news. Back on red.
3 fills, 3 shorts, 3 winners, +0.03 average. BG could have been better. Cancelled over 1/2. Many shorts unavail.
On the year how much $$ made, or percentage up. Since your own the board pumping this strategy, whats the point unless we know what a person can make...........
This is a good beginning strategy. Teaches market mechanics, and allows new people to start with a high probability technique as far as win vs. losses, etc. We have dozens (if not a couple of hundred) who make money, month after month with this as well. Some, who use fully automated programs, do nothing but this strategy and do well. As with everything in trading, each trader needs to gravitate to what works well for them in the long run. The openings tend to go in phases, some months extremely well, some are just "getting by" - but very rare does someone (who adapts their approach) lose over any period of time. A few on here will post annual results, and some have in the past, feel free to search. All the best, Don
It is so subjective. If you're referring to this strategy only, hmm? Some traders will be comfortable with 2000 shares within a couple of weeks. Some will trade only a few hundred for a year. So, the actual cash is hard to identify. I try to instill confidence via consistency, it's up to the trader to turn up the share size. Sort of like blackjack. I can certainly help you become a winning player, but do you want to play $5 chips or $100 chips (other than the cloaking reasons etc.)? I wrote a short piece on the last page of Stocks and Commodities in the December 2008 edition about "Transitioning to Trading" - and this strategy has helped many by allowing them to trade the first half hour in the morning before heading off to a "day job" for a while. I still have Doctors who do just that. Our record is something like $700,000 on one morning, which beat his old record of $500,000 on one morning (yes, he has lost big money too, but not over $200,000)...these are obviously very rare results done by a trader who has been with for 15 years or so. So, all in all, a good transition, good training, confidence builder is the way I look at it. Now I have to do it live on Tues and Wed in front of over 50 new traders, LOL. And do it manually (getting way too old for that). Don
