3 fills, 1 long 2 shorts, 1 winner, 2 losers, -0.03 average. I have a problem placing orders to sell at the ask, or buying at the bid. Little blue status. Somehow draging down my results. Not much meat anyways.
Does everyone use a spreadsheet linked into their broker to do this strategy or do some people just manage the orders manually? Also, is anyone willing to share a template of their spreadsheet? I want to try using this strategy, but I don't want to start from scratch if I don't have to.... Thanks.
IMO you need the automation but you could also specialise in 10-20 stocks and do them manually (I would never dare). I sometimes play 2-3 stocks at the last imnute when I did not have the time to prepare. The spreadsheets are broker specific because it's all about sending orders to the broker. The little caclulations that we do are simple but to do that you "need" a sample from your broker, or someone who has the same broker otherwise woul need to get into some more complex stuff. Anyways, if your broker has APIs he should have a sample that you can easily modify. Some brokers dont offer APIs so they are useless for OPG.
10 fills, 1 long, 9 shorts, all winners, +0.11 average. 3rd best day since I started 10 months ago. The way I start to see it is that you have be be there waiting and protecting yourself from being hurth and from time to time the good days come. You will survive only if you can protect yourself and limit the damages of the bad days. EMZ; yes, still the blue status on at least one that I saw.
I am relatively new to this strategy (have read Don in TASC for a few years but that's it) but trying to flesh out my approach. I have a few questions for those of you who have done this for a while: 1) does anyone do order enveloping based on volatility of the underlying stock as opposed to flat % (e.g., FV adjusted price +/- some multiple of ATR) 2) profit targets: for those of you use these, what would you estimate your target is in relation to the envelope? So if you are using +0.5% and -0.5%, would you be looking for a profit target of 1 times? Or higher. 3) stop loss: same thing. for those who use, what would your stop loss as a multiple of your profit target. 2 times? 3 times? 4) time stop: does anyone use a time stop either in addition to other exits, or as a primary exit? 5) what would you say your average time is in an OO trade across all trades? 6) has anyone done any analysis of MAE for winning trades and could briefly describe what they've found? I apologize in advance if these questions are too basic, but would love to get the benefit of your experience. tmantrader
4 fills, 4 short, 4 winners, +0.08 average. Nothing more to get, well done. I now try to move my stops @ 2 cents profit as soon as I'm over 5 cents in profit.
