Opening Orders - 2008

Discussion in 'Journals' started by Don Bright, Jan 3, 2008.

  1. Besides the US, what other country's stock market is more likely to be tradable with the opening strategy? (OPG order type support, single opening price, etc...)

    Has anyone tried other markets?

  2. No idea about other markets.

Thanks to the Microsoft update this morning that f***ed my internet on my 2 computers.
Played only 3 at the last minute and no fills after an hour of geek debuging.

  3. I haven't really checked. You could start by simply asking if they have the order type of "Opening Only" .....

Wednesday....Made a dime on GE... pulled out all the Pharms and Oil.

  7. Getting back into it again...

Made a little over 100 bucks, got burned on KO and NOK.

CAT was great...opened at 68, wanted to take at 68.50, order sat for 7 seconds, they gave me 68.71!

I haven't had this kind of price improvement in a while.

  9. Hmm...let me get this straight. I placed a limit order to sell at the bid (a few cents below actually, using hotkeys). I don't get filled for 7 seconds. Are you saying that the actual bid price was much higher than what I saw on my screen? Oh well, good enough for me lol.

So what is price improvement exactly? I was under the impression that it's when you get filled better than the NBBO or the quoted price. That's not what happened here?

  10. LOL, if I see a 25 cent bid, and try to sell at 22, and get 25 that is not price improvement. If I have a 50 offer and get filled at 71 then I call that price improvement.

My program sends half of my shares at a 6 cent profit, and half at a 25 cent profit...when I get both filled with a 35 cent profit, then that's really price improvement.

OK, not much today. I have pharms out, retailers out (including KO and PEP), only 1 fill for $150 bucks in ALL.

My brother and at least one other Bright Trader still in the World Series of Poker.

Brandon Adams is 11th out of 1300, my brother is about 480 in chip count...still above the average chip count.

    We'll see what today brings...
