Opening Orders - 2008

Discussion in 'Journals' started by Don Bright, Jan 3, 2008.

  1. 5 longs and a short, all on reduced size, 4 wins and a loss, -219, 3300 shares

A special thank you goes out to Eastman Kodak for announcing a share buyback at the opening bell. EK today was one of Lescor's proverbial "grenades tossed in the lap". Luckily escaped with only 40 cents of damage.

  2. You only get stuck if your on the wrong side of the trade.

    Funny how that works.. sigh.

  3. In the scenario below, do you think the exchange will let you cancel the majority of the orders?

9:24:00 - OPG orders submitted, SPY is flat
9:28:00 - Major bad news comes out, SPY is down 3%
9:29:00 - Sent cancel all orders via IB
    9:30:01 - ?
    9:33:00 - ? ? ?

I cancel orders after 9:30 without any problems (cause I set it up so 'if max orders hit' -> cancel remaining). It's my understanding that you can cancel up until the moment of the opening print.

  5. ?? I've "always" been married, LOL.

And yes, you can send cancels up until the stock opens.

Anyway, small profits yesterday and today +$390.

Consistency is coming back well, I think I will add another 25 stocks or so, increase size starting July 1...."what could go wrong?" LOL.
