3 fills, 2 longs, 1 short 1 win (+0.07), 1 flat, 1 loss (-0.05) First time on GE (long winner), had to ride it more than I like! My biggest trade size yet, 500. +16$ on 700 shares Should not have take the loss but I got filled when I was going to change the limit. Thoses a real trades, no Monopoly cash involved. Still on small size cuz I'm a new kid.
3 fills / 2400 shares 1 short / 2 short / + 184.00 out a bit too quick today... i don't mean to whine but i find it hard to tell the difference between real trades and paper trades on this journal... please label as such as it can give a false impression of results.... maybe start a new thread...paper trading the opening order strategy... thanks
Good point. There seem to be quite a few who check this thread out to determine if OO are for them. The papaer trading posts are very deceptive. This is definitely a strategy that does not lend itself to "paper trading" as a way to get a feel for possible results. Just having the book closed and re-opened is one "land mine" that you just can't duplicate "paper trading". Of course, sometimes those re-opens do give you a nice positive pop, too.
Your intent not to whine is noted and as a moderator I see value in your opinion. In your words, the distinction of real results versus paper results leading to a false impression lends itself to a user generated labeling scheme to signify how said results were obtained. Having toyed with this exact idea when i started giving paper trade results, going forward, I will label all results with a preface denoting obtainment until further comments are made regarding the intent of this thread. However, the unfortunate truth is the validity of results either real or paper on a journal such as this are only as good as the word of the person giving them.
Gehko, I think (and I'm sure there are many others) it would be awesome if you came up with a semi-automated process to trade 20 to 40 thousand shares each morning on the OO strategy and were profitable in doing so. Good luck with it.
lol - especially as there aren't 20 - 40k (liquid stocks). but i agree with the sentiment - it would be awesome.
I guess I don't understand your comment. Trading only 1,000 shares of each, getting filled on 10 would give you 20,000 shares round turn.
understood - i was being dense when i read your post. I read it as "looking at 20,000 stocks". trading 20k shares is obviously very possible. apologies for the confusion.
