Thanks for your comment. I think you are probably correct. I have a question, though. I monitor emini prices as I submit my orders on the assumption that they are a pretty good signal of any unusual event and, perhaps, a signal of the impact of expiration. Both at the time and after the fact, I did not see anything special in those prices. Your quote above suggests something was there that I did not see. Are you looking at any particular measure that you would be willing to disclose?
In the 35 minutes before the open, the ES had a 9 point range. I'd consider that volatile. Heck, it wasn't that long ago there were entire days that didn't have 9 point ranges. But beyond that, it was an expiration with the VIX at relatively high levels and a huge amount of volatility in the days leading up to it. Frankly I was expecting a crazier open than we got.
Yesterday, down about $300 (my fault, took out LOW, forgot HD, and covered half at a profit, and let the other half run too far). Today, back to "normal" - 8 fills +$750. Don
Hi Don, I took the video of MOT's opening for March 24th. It was opened at 9.32 with the first print volume of 93,200. But pre opening, the total quotes on Level II (bid > 9.32 and offer <9.32) less than 40,000 shares. Are there any hidden volumes being taken by the specialists?
Don, I noticed in your post today that yesterday you cancelled LOW and that you missed cancelling HD. I had a loss in HD ( I don't trade LOW but I assume I would've had it in if it was on my list ) and noticed that a few regular posters did as well. I couldn't find any news on either company and was curious why you cancelled LOW and why you intended to cancel HD. Thank you.
