ME TOO (about dividends) to my traders this morning. Fortunately, my program picks up the pre-market adjusted prices from Redi....BUT, always double check. And, gee...for like the 10th time in a row, "shoulda" kept some GE overnight for ex Div, oh well, never know. Fair +$380 this morning. I'll be around tomorrow, but don't know about next week. Taking wife, son, daughter in law, and grand kid on a Mexican Cruise starting Sunday...not sure about Internet connections, etc. Anniversary present to wife, not sure how many years, but remember the date by having wedding on George Washington's "real" birthday....do they even teach that stuff any more? The "actual" dates, LOL. First wedding on Summer Solstice, second wedding on 4th of July (same wife), not sure about 3rd wedding, and this one tomorrow, LOL. Must be about 20 years, LOL. Don

Its ok if your program picks up dividend on the stocks you have, but do you have a source which shows all stocks that go ex-dividend, even if they are not on your list?
To answer your question, yes, deduct the dividend from the closing price, but make sure that your data feed has not already done this for you. This site shows you the day's exDivs: http://www.fulldisclosure.com/dividend.asp?date=20080221&client=cb You can also do a search by entering the ticker in the top right hand corner to pull up when a given company's exDiv is. EDIT: Shreddog beat me to the punch. The link above is earnings.com.
My daughter was born 7-6-05. At 4:32:01. (Ok - the time part is BS but the date makes it real easy to remember) So Don are you saying you're on wife #3? Typical trader cutting his losses and riding his winner (sorry-- that sounds a little dirty ). Scratch today on 4100 shares.
OK (Actually true on my birth certificate). Born 2:14 AM on 2.14 Married H.S. sweetheart (actualy she was in 9th grade when we met, me a Junior in H.S. Married at 21 ...big Church wedding. Stayed in Vegas an extra few days a year later, came home to an empty house. Got divorced. 6 months later got remarried in a friend's living room (his dad was a Justice of the Peace)...no charge, LOL. 6 months later, yeah, divorced again. While divorced I met a lovely 18 year old who was dating a friend of mine. After second divorce, hooked up with wife number 2. We stayed married, had a son in 1981. Met my current wife who was finishing up at Berkeley, and working at our local "watering hole." We got along well, started to babysit my son once in a while (no "babysitter jokes" guys, LOL). After current wife decided to "take the money and run" (actually we get along real well). Figured I may as well have another "overlapping" relationship. Moved in with current wife. Got married around 91 or 92. No more weddings in my future. (I know you guys were very interested in reading all this, LOL). Anyway, overlapping relationships are the way to go. Don't have to date or anything. Don
