3 fills on buy side only. 3 small winners net $20.00 on 600 total shares. Felt better today on exits after doing research/reviews of previous trades as suggested.

  5. I'm manual on my exits. Just treat your fill like any other trade during the day. With the exception of morning volatility, I don't think there's really anything special about OPG exits. Each stock will behave differently. Once you get enough fills in a given stock, you'll learn what to expect.

For example you may get filled in XYZ and it immediately goes 10 cents against you and you bail out, and the stock snaps back. The next time you and the stock do the same thing. After a couple more times you sense a pattern and say "OK, I'll give it more than 10 cents of room this time" and you make a profit. Now you have a feel for the way XYZ performs at the opening bell. If XYZ starts going against you 30 cents and that's beyond your tolerance, you take XYZ off your list.

It takes a while and many fills, but eventually you learn how fast a stock moves, how it retraces, whether it typically "shakes out" on the open, and what is a reasonable move to expect on any given fill.

1 long fill today, +550, 2000 shares. Cut my share size on my list for today, so of course I get a decent winner...

  9. Hi guys - couple of questions for the old hands:

    - How long do you generally find you hold positions for? Of course there will be some variation and some positions will be exited super quickly on a sling shot etc. But just looking for some general thoughts. Do you have a blanket rule of (eg) must be out of the stock within 20 mins, etc

    - Any more tips on buildng a stock list? I have been building a spreadsheet doing some correlation analysis with the index etc but any more clues appreciated.

    Cheers
