Did you ever asked yourself the following questions? What if I lose power at 9:29? What if I lose my internet connection at 9:29? What if my computer crashes at 9:29? There is a lot of sketchy situations. When you do that on a large scale you need some backups (battery, alternative internet, computer,...). I'm still on small volume so my backup is the internet cafe at the corner of the street but when I pump up the share size I'll have to invest in hardware.
Well, this happens a lot in my rural area. I have a battery backup but my internet will go down if the power does. I might route this old computer and use it during the day tho to be honest I have never had operating system issues, just my lousy Dell experience. I do regularly close things by phone just to see what my experience with my broker MB Trading is for that. Often it is pretty fast. Maybe one day put on a few positions and call in to close them as if you were out on the internet. I know I need another landline phone because my cell goes if the power does as well. But yeah, it is possible for disaster if doing like 5000 shares in some beast and your order doesn't close it. I have thought of that lol.
Trading is a game of percentages. What percentage of the time does your television just not work? .001 percent of the time? Sure, if you're in a real rural area, get a backup, have a cell phone (as our traders all do)..... Can't concern yourself with "what if" ---- and, remember this (as I tell my new boot campers)..."...if you lose power, you have a 50/50 chance of making money, probably better than what you had when you entered the trade" (not for openings of course, but for "day trades" when you're new, LOL). I've traded on cruise ships, crappy little hotel rooms...stuff "does" happen, but pretty rarely overall IMO. All the best, Don
A bad one. 3 fills short, 2 winners, 1 loser. -0.28 average. Lost a lot on TRA. Should have close it at a loss but waited, my fault.
hi, gehko. What system are you trading with and how to auto close the positions, based on what algorithms?
I use excel to do my autotrades, and as far as algorithms i started with Don's framework and traded the openings manually for a while until i got the hang of them (as a human ), and gradually moved each element into my spreadsheet as an automated process. hope this helps ~g
