hey guys, i'd love to learn about stock trading..but since i'm not in the US, is there any way i could learn about this method? i've read some summary posts in previous threads but some of the links are no longer valid.. thanks in advance
I'm not in the US eitheir and it dosen't change a thing (except taxes)... unless you come from some sketchy communist country that prevents trading US stocks.
2 fills, 1 short winner, 1 long loser. +0.14 average. Expected more fills with the quantity I played.
Varying opinions about this. Some prefer to keep the opening stock list away from the pairs trading, and some take advantage of gaps in one stock by offsetting with the paired stock instead of covering with a profit. It really depends on your overall trading plan in my opinion. Don
1 short +0.08 Blocked a bunch. Heh, a fine line between taking it while it's available, vs let it run.
I increased the "width" of my shorts and sells and added more stocks. I got filled on COP short and didn't take the fast profit, bailed for loss when it turned against me. Later this year I want to automate some fast profit taking limit orders, in the meantime I will just learn the manual way old fashioned style. I saw Don manual do it I pretty much thought I could do it like that.
I have to say that my "bigger" account would not do well with me relying on manual operation completely. The auto retrace programs make a gigantic difference. When you feel comfortable with taking over manually (just in case), I highly recommend some level of automation. FWIW, Don
Yeah, I think when I have some hands on experience with how these stocks trade in that first 30 seconds I will have an idea what to accomplish with automating exits. One thing I notice is that looking for some sort of "average" move in terms of the number of cents a stock might move is probably useless. I think instead exits based on just the length of time a trade is open or where it is currently trading compared to the previous close and fair value might be better. I was short COP from 80.53 and it seemed to make a pivot at 80.38 and I could've traded out of it there as I had a limit order ready at 80.38 when it traded fast below there. Too slow and greedy maybe, more practice.
